Vox is a choir from Belgrade, Serbia, which predominantly performs a cappella (voices only) arrangements of pop/rock music, accompanied by beatbox.

The choir was created thanks to enthusiasm and the unstoppable energy of Jasmina Lorin, the conductor of Zemun high school choir for full 14 years. Choir members, following Jasmina, joined Cultural Artistic Society (KUD) „Branko Radičević“ in 2003, and on the 9th of May in 2005. they’ve officially registered as an independent choir by the name as we know it today – Viva Vox.

In the beginning, Viva Vox was just an ordinary enthusiastic and energetic youth choir performing classical, renaissance, spiritual and folk music from the composers such as Mozart, Handel, di Lasso, but as well as some Serbian 19th century and contemporary composers, such as Stevan Mokranjac, Aleksandar Vujic, Vojislav Simic, etc. However, they’ve always most enjoyed those entertaining pieces which always got the most positive reactions from the audience. Since 2008. they’ve started writing down a couple of their own arrangements, and in 2009. they’ve really gotten into it and even implemented beatbox in their performance.

By now, Viva Vox choir had numerous performances in various rock festivals, cultural manifestations, opening and closing ceremonies, theatre, radio and tv shows. Choir regularly holds annual before-newyear’s concerts, and in 2010. the event was for the first time structured like an allnight a cappella pop/rock concert. And for the first time, the Airforce Command hall in Zemun (capacity ~350 seats), where the concert was traditionally held, was too small for all of the interested. In may, just a few months later, a concert in larger concert hall of Dom omladine (Youth home) Belgrade was sold out many days earlier.

It is from this concert that video of Viva Vox’s a cappella rendition of Du Hast, a song by a german industrial-metal band Rammstein, went viral on the web and brought global popularity to the choir in just a few days. After stormy reactions from all around the world, Serbian public too paid more attention to Viva Vox, which was then consequently invited on numerous music festivals and tv shows in country and abroad. The crown of this choir’s career was holding a large concert in december 2011. in front of full Sava Center in Belgrade (capacity ~3 600 seats), which was sold out weeks earlier.

In the future, choir Viva Vox will continue to work on a cappella pop/rock/metal music, but it’s members don’t plan to give up on their classical choir repertoaire either.

Their greatest wish is that they continue representing Serbia in it’s true light, under conducting stick of Jasmina Lorin, and to help promote choir music in Serbia.

Josipa Lisac will have concert on her birthday,14. February

40 years from her the first album – Dnevnik jedne ljubavi (The diary of one love) 1973.
Here is part of the story about her unique person (from the official Josipa’s website – www.josipalisac.com)

The visual part – style and creations

Josipa-Lisac_With all the uniqueness of her voice, herdedication to the music, which is both her passion and her life, Josipa also built herown strong artistic individuality through her visual recognizability. Her hairstyles and fashion designs in which she appears, together with the accompanying make-up, usually draw considerable attention. Many of these creations, with exceptional portraits, were presented in 1998, on the photographic exhibition of Zeljko Koprolcec, which was accompanied by the presentation of a compilation CD “The best of”, in the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb. For this occasion Josipa performed there in two concerts, on December 9 and 10, as a tribute to Karlo Metikos. The audience remembered her renditions of the Latin church hymn “Panis angelicus”, as well as the legendary jazz hit “Do nothing till you hear from me” originally performed by Duke Ellington, for which Josipa was accompanied by the jazz musicians Bosko Petrovic and Neven Franges.

The festival performances in a painted dress or toga in the late 60-is and the early 70-is, followed by the paper-made wigs, the “ikebana” hairstyles and the spectacular performance in which she wrapped up the entire stage with her dress in the 80-is, with the pink hair color and the elegant gowns of the 90-is, to the sculpture-dress made of aluminum in the year 2000 and a turquoise hair color of the recent years – they all make an unforgettable pictures with a signature. Because of these pictures – that were once undoubtedly the object of the laughing stock and mockery and after that simply a shock or a surprise, only to be more and more appreciated over the years as an obligatory part of her style, as a sort of a brand – on the first ceremony of the Croatian fashion Oscar awards in 2004, Josipa took home a well-deserved award in the category of the best dressed female singer. The remark that Josipa said on this occasion, about how it seems she finally came into fashion, got confirmed two years later, when she won the same award for the second time.
